Fewer subsidies for local councils | Made in Germany

2010-06-16 6

The German government has announced major cuts in numerous areas, including urban development. Subsidies affecting the sector are being halved. East German councils are likely to be hardest hit. Up to now, they have used government subsidies to renovate old buildings.Local laborers fear the cuts will have a detrimental effect on the number of commissions available - and their ability to earn a living.
